Munich Pride 2027: CSD Dates, Parade Route and Tips

By Daniel Schulz, residir GmbH · Last updated: 13 October 2026

Munich Pride, known locally as CSD München, takes place every June: two Pride Weeks with events all over the city, rounded off by a weekend with the PolitParade and a street festival. For 2027, the city portal muenchen.de so far only says “expected June 2027”; the exact date is still to be announced (as of October 2026). In 2026, the parade wound through the city centre on Saturday 27 June, and the party took place on Ludwigstraße between Odeonsplatz and the Siegestor.

In autumn 2027 we are opening a boarding house with 54 apartments at Ländstraße 6 in Lehel. From there, Odeonsplatz is a 15-minute walk, and the Glockenbachviertel is about 20 minutes on foot along the Isar. Here we have gathered what is confirmed about Christopher Street Day in Munich, what was new in 2026 and what you can expect for 2027.

Munich Pride 2027: when are the next dates?

There is no official date for CSD Munich 2027 yet. The city portal muenchen.de lists the Pride Weeks 2027 as “expected June 2027”, while the CSD weekend says “date to follow”. According to the city portal, it has not yet been officially confirmed whether the PrideMeile will return to Ludwigstraße in 2027 either (as of October 2026).

Looking at recent years helps with planning. The parade was held on Saturday 22 June in 2024, Saturday 28 June in 2025 and Saturday 27 June in 2026. If the organisers stick to this pattern, the 2027 CSD weekend will fall on one of the last two weekends in June, i.e. 19 or 26 June. This is an inference, not an announcement.

If you are planning to come to Pride 2027, it is still worth enquiring early about accommodation in Munich and choosing free cancellation. The city is busy at the end of June anyway, and the closer the weekend gets, the fewer central rooms are available.

Looking back: CSD Munich 2026 with Pride Weeks, parade and PrideMeile

The Pride Weeks for Christopher Street Day Munich 2026 ran from 11 to 28 June. The main weekend was 26 to 28 June, with the Sunday falling on the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall protests in New York. The motto “Unsere Vielfalt. Unsere Stärke.” (Our diversity. Our strength.) was submitted by Raphael Kosecki of the gay and queer centre Sub e.V.

What was new in 2026 was the location of the street festival. Instead of the previous festival area around Marienplatz and the town hall, there was the PrideMeile on Ludwigstraße, with the main stage at Odeonsplatz. Because of building work at Mariahilfplatz, the parade started at the corner of Erhardtstraße and Fraunhoferstraße.

CSD Munich 2026: parade, participants and heat

According to CSD München, a total of 214 groups registered in 2026, more floats and walking groups than ever before. The city portal speaks of tens of thousands of participants in the PolitParade and hundreds of thousands of visitors over the weekend. According to the city, around 300,000 people came to CSD Munich in 2025; in 2024 the organisers reported around 325,000.

The weather played a big part in 2026. According to the City of Munich, temperatures of up to 38 degrees were forecast for the weekend, so the city published its own heat tips for participants. A police report on 2026 was not available to us at the time of writing.

Munich Pride parade: the PolitParade route

The Pride parade in Munich is officially called the PolitParade, as it is a registered demonstration with political demands. Traditionally, the Dykes on Bikes lead the procession, followed by floats from associations, companies and political parties as well as many walking groups. In 2026 the parade set off at 12 noon.

The PolitParade winds through the city centre with floats and walking groups; in 2026 there were 214 groups.

The 2026 CSD parade route

According to in-muenchen.de and the City of Munich, the 2026 route was as follows:

  • Assembly: from early morning, walking groups on Wittelsbacherstraße, Auenstraße and Pfarrer-Rosenberger-Straße, floats on Erhardtstraße between Reichenbachbrücke and Boschbrücke
  • Start: Fraunhoferstraße, then along Müllerstraße past Bellevue di Monaco
  • Middle section: Corneliusstraße, Blumenstraße, Sendlinger-Tor-Platz and Sonnenstraße to Stachus
  • End: Maximiliansplatz and Brienner Straße, with the floats dispersing at Karolinenplatz
  • Walking groups: continue via Oskar-von-Miller-Ring to the PrideMeile on Ludwigstraße

The route for Munich Pride 2027 has not yet been announced. The parade usually started at Mariahilfplatz in the Au district; in 2026 it moved because of building work there. Wide stretches such as Sonnenstraße are good for watching, as the crowd spreads out better there than in the narrower streets of the Glockenbachviertel.

Walk into the city centre for the Pride weekend

Our boarding house at Ländstraße 6 is about a 15-minute walk from Odeonsplatz and 12 minutes from Marienplatz. The 54 apartments have their own kitchen, fast Wi-Fi and 24-hour check-in with a key safe, so you can arrive without a reception desk even after a long night. We open in autumn 2027, and you will find everything about our holiday apartments in Munich on our homepage.

Programme: Pride Weeks and PrideMeile in Munich

The Pride Weeks are the quieter part of CSD. For two weeks there are readings, film nights, parties, sports events and panel discussions, organised by associations, bars and cultural venues. In 2025, for example, the programme included a Pride picnic in the English Garden and a rainbow concert in the Old Town Hall.

If you want to spend the entire Pride Weeks in the city, you will be staying two to three weeks. For that, an apartment with a kitchen is often cheaper than a hotel room; you will find more information under temporary housing in Munich. The organisers publish the full CSD Munich programme on csdmuenchen.de ahead of the Pride Weeks.

PrideMeile Munich: street festival on Ludwigstraße

In 2026 the PrideMeile ran from Friday to Sunday. On Sunday, only the section between Odeonsplatz and the Altstadtring (old town ring road) was in use. According to in-muenchen.de, besides the main stage at Odeonsplatz there was a party area at the Siegestor, a karaoke stage and a politics stage, areas for sport and for older people, and on Saturday a space for rainbow families at Frauenplatz.

Marienplatz and the town hall during CSD

Before 2026, the street festival’s central area was on Marienplatz in front of the town hall. Even after the move to Ludwigstraße, the town hall remains part of CSD: the city raised rainbow flags to mark the start of the Pride Weeks 2026, and on Saturday evening the Neues Rathaus hosted RathausClubbing with six dance floors, including in the Prunkhof courtyard. According to in-muenchen.de, tickets on the door cost 40 euros in 2026.

Munich Pride live stream

If you cannot be there in person, you could follow the parade via live stream in previous years, for example from 12 noon to 10 pm on parade Saturday in 2025. Whether and where there will be a stream in 2027 will only be confirmed shortly before the date.

Christopher Street Day Munich: a history since 1980

The name recalls Christopher Street in New York. There, in June 1969, patrons of the Stonewall Inn bar fought back against a police raid, sparking the worldwide Pride movement. That is why most parades are still held in June today.

According to in-muenchen.de, the first CSD in Munich took place on 28 June 1980. Today the city itself takes part with its own stalls and a truck. In 2026, Lord Mayor Dominik Krause was patron and spoke on the main stage on the Friday.

Glockenbachviertel: the lively neighbourhood at the heart of Pride

Together with the Gärtnerplatzviertel, the Glockenbachviertel is part of the Isarvorstadt district and has been the centre of Munich’s queer scene for decades. Bars, cafés and small clubs are packed closely together around Gärtnerplatz, Fraunhoferstraße and Müllerstraße. How the area differs from others is explained in our guide to Munich neighbourhoods.

Munich Pride in the Glockenbachviertel: rainbow flag on a period building balcony above a street with cafés in the evening
In June, rainbow flags hang from many balconies in the Glockenbachviertel.

At CSD 2026 the parade passed straight through the neighbourhood, and rainbow flags already hang from many balconies during the Pride Weeks. On parade Saturday the bars are full from the afternoon, and people sit out on Gärtnerplatz until late in the evening. From Lehel it is about a 20-minute walk along the Isar, and the U1 and U2 stop at Fraunhoferstraße.

Some guests get to know Munich at Pride and later come back to work or study. For the first few months after a move, furnished apartments in Munich are often easier than hunting for a permanent tenancy. In the Glockenbachviertel itself, however, vacant flats are rare and expensive.

Getting to Munich Pride: MVG, road closures and diversions

You will hardly get into the city centre by car on the CSD weekend. In 2026, Ludwigstraße was closed to cars, buses and bikes from Wednesday evening, and several bus and tram lines ran diversions from Thursday until the early hours of Monday. On parade Saturday there were further interruptions, including on tram lines 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21.

The city recommends travelling by U-Bahn or S-Bahn and checking your connection with MVG or MVV beforehand. The nearest U-Bahn stations for the PrideMeile are Odeonsplatz and Universität, and Fraunhoferstraße for the start of the parade. From Lehel you do not need public transport for either.

  • Odeonsplatz: approx. 15 minutes on foot from Ländstraße, via Maximilianstraße and the Residenz
  • Marienplatz and town hall: approx. 12 minutes on foot
  • Fraunhoferstraße: approx. 20 to 25 minutes along the Isar

Tips for Pride day in Munich

Munich Pride tips for hot weather: water bottle, sun hat, sunglasses and a small rainbow flag on a bench in the sunshine
Water, sun protection and comfortable shoes matter more than any outfit on Pride Saturday.
  • Arrive early: good spots along the route fill up quickly. If you are near the start before 12 noon, you will see the whole procession go by.
  • Bring water: at the end of June the city centre quickly gets above 30 degrees; in 2026 up to 38 degrees were forecast. Your own bottle saves you long queues at the drinks stands.
  • Sun protection: hat, sun cream and sunglasses, as there is little shade on Ludwigstraße.
  • Outfit: colour is welcome, but comfortable shoes matter more. You will be standing and walking for many hours.
  • Cash and battery: not every stall takes cards, and the mobile network is often overloaded in the crowds. Agree on a meeting point.
  • Respect: CSD is a demonstration and a celebration for the queer community. Ask before you take photos of people.

If you stay on for a Munich weekend after Pride, you will find a much quieter city on Sunday and Monday. The Isar is a few minutes’ walk from Lehel, and you can reach the English Garden in just under 20 minutes.

Book accommodation for Munich Pride early

For the CSD weekend, central hotels in the old town and the Glockenbachviertel are often booked up early. It is best to enquire as soon as the date is confirmed and keep your cancellation options flexible. Groups are often better off in an apartment with its own kitchen than in several hotel rooms.

If you are in town on business before or after Pride, take a look at our serviced apartments in Munich. There you can work with fast Wi-Fi and cook for yourself instead of eating out every evening.

An aparthotel combines an apartment with a hotel. We explain exactly where the difference lies in our guide What is an aparthotel. For the Pride weekend, what matters most is being able to check in late at night without a reception desk.

Conclusion

Munich Pride 2027 is expected to take place in June; the organisers have yet to publish the exact date and route. If you want to be there, pencil in the last two weekends of June, enquire about accommodation early and get around by U-Bahn or on foot. From autumn 2027 you can stay in our boarding house in Munich in Lehel, a 15-minute walk from Odeonsplatz and Ludwigstraße.
