Holiday apartments in Munich with their own kitchen

Our modern holiday apartments in Munich are furnished apartments with their own kitchen, right in the city centre. Book one night or several weeks, cook for yourself whenever you like and enjoy far more space than in a hotel room. That suits a city break just as well as a project week or a family holiday.

Bed linen and towels are ready when you arrive, check-in works around the clock via a key safe, and the building has washing machines, dryers and an outdoor sauna. Our boarding house in Munich is designed for guests who want to live as if in their own flat without giving up some of the comforts of a hotel.

Finding a holiday apartment in central Munich that is professionally managed and offers enough space for business trips and city breaks alike is not as easy as it sounds. With 54 holiday apartments in Munich at Ländstraße 6 in Lehel, our boarding house fills exactly that gap: high-quality apartments, a location with more than 600 years of city history, and the flexibility of a holiday rental with the service level of a hotel. Two nights passing through call for a different apartment than several weeks of work in the city. That is why, with us, you choose the apartment to suit your stay, not the other way round.

For every group size

Holiday apartments in Munich for 2 to 6 guests

Not every holiday apartment in Munich needs to be the same size. Our 54 apartments come in different sizes, so solo travellers and couples as well as smaller groups will find the right one. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for 2 to 3 people, you get a compact but fully equipped apartment with a separate sleeping area. For families or small teams there are larger units with two bedrooms, where 4 to 6 people can stay comfortably.

This range sets us apart from many individual private holiday rentals in Munich, which usually come in just one fixed size. With us, you can pick exactly the right apartment size for the occasion – from a short business trip to a holiday with the whole family.

Who is our holiday apartment in Munich for?

Our guests fall roughly into two groups, and both find the right holiday apartment in Munich at Ländstraße 6: business travellers in town for a project, a trade fair or several appointments, and tourists using Munich as a base for their holiday. For both groups the average stay is around 2.5 days. That is why so much here is geared towards a quick arrival: check-in around the clock via the key safe, freshly made beds and a fully equipped kitchen.

The apartments can be booked directly or through the usual platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com, so you can use whichever booking route you are used to. If you need to plan at short notice, you are also more likely to find a free apartment here than with a single private holiday rental in Munich, which is often available on only a few dates.

Apartments in Munich city centre: on foot from Ländstraße

Many listings with “central” in the title are actually two S-Bahn stops out. Our holiday apartment in Munich city centre is in the Altstadt-Lehel district, between the Isartor and the Isar. You can reach most places in the old town from here without a ticket; for the central station and the airport, take the S-Bahn from Isartor.

An apartment in the city centre comes at a price. Munich is one of Germany’s most expensive cities, and you pay more in the centre than in Pasing or Riem. In return, you save on travel time and tickets. Many guests only realise on the third day how pleasant it is to pop back to the apartment, drop off the shopping bags and head out again.

Our tip: If you use the U-Bahn and S-Bahn a lot, work out whether a day ticket is worth it. For getting around the old town you will not need one.

History of Ländstraße

Holiday apartment in Munich city centre: Altstadt-Lehel and the history of Ländstraße

Ländstraße is where it is for a reason. Its name goes back to the Altstadt-Lehel riverside area between the old stone bridge and the Maximiliansbrücke – the “Lände” (landing stage), where until the 19th century rafts from the Isarwinkel moored and timber, coal and gypsum were unloaded. In 1893 it officially became Ländstraße. Anyone booking a holiday apartment in central Munich here today is staying at a place that for more than a century was Munich’s commercial gateway to the Isar. Even so, Marienplatz, Maximilianstraße and the Englischer Garten are only a few minutes’ walk away.

Historic address books still describe the street as a link “not far from the ‘Zum Grünen Baum’ inn on the left bank of the Isar” before it received its official name in 1893. The old transhipment point has long since become a residential neighbourhood. Today Lehel is considered one of Munich’s most sought-after residential areas: quiet at night, yet the Isar riverbank, the old town and Maximilianstraße are just a short stroll away.

This location is one of the biggest advantages of our house: short distances into the old town, S-Bahn and U-Bahn a few minutes’ walk away, and yet quieter and greener than the pedestrian zone. How long it takes to walk from here to Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt or the Englischer Garten is shown in the route overview above.

Holiday apartment in Lehel

Lehel: a quiet neighbourhood of period buildings between the old town and the Isar

Lehel is one of Munich’s oldest suburbs. Today, together with the Altstadt (old town), it forms the Altstadt-Lehel district. Many period buildings with tall windows line the streets, interspersed with government offices, small shops and cafés. In the evening it becomes noticeably quieter than in the pedestrian zone.

It is above all this mix that makes a holiday apartment in Lehel so appealing. You live on an ordinary residential street and are still in the thick of things in no time: Maximilianstraße is five minutes away, the Isar riverbank just a few steps. To be honest: if you want to be out until three every night, you will find cheaper places to stay elsewhere. If you want to sleep at night, this is the right place.

Evenings in the old town

Food, beer gardens, the Isar: evenings in Munich city centre

Around the Isartor and along the Tal you will find traditional taverns, wine bars and small restaurants. Maximilianstraße is five minutes away. That is where the upmarket addresses are; a few side streets further on, things get more relaxed and more affordable.

You will find beer gardens in the Englischer Garten and at the Viktualienmarkt. On warm evenings, though, a spot on the banks of the Isar is often all you need. A word from experience: supermarkets in Munich are closed on Sundays. If you plan to cook, do your shopping on Saturday.

Day trips into the countryside

Holiday apartment in Munich and the surrounding area: a base for day trips

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Munich and the surrounding area because you are planning trips into the countryside as well as the city, Lehel is a central starting point. From Ländstraße 6 you can walk to the sights of the city centre, and the stations for trips to Dachau, Lake Starnberg (Starnberger See) or the Alpine foothills are quickly reached.

For guests looking for a holiday apartment near Munich with good connections to the city itself, Ländstraße is an alternative to accommodation on the outskirts or in the countryside. The longer journeys that come with staying outside the city simply fall away. Even if you want a base in Munich and the surrounding area for a longer stay, you benefit from this middle ground: day trips into the countryside by day, back in the city within minutes in the evening.

For short and long stays

We let our modern holiday apartments in Munich for a single night just as readily as for several months. The apartments range from 25 to 50 m², with a fully equipped kitchen and enough storage space that your suitcase does not have to stay packed for weeks.

Professionally managed

More than ordinary accommodation in Munich: professionally managed holiday apartments

Most of the portals that rank highly for “holiday apartment Munich” broker other people’s flats – we run our own house. That makes us more than just another vacation rental in Munich: all 54 apartments are centrally managed, professionally cleaned and available at short notice as well as for longer periods. For business travellers who need a reliable apartment in Munich during a project week, and equally for families looking for a classic holiday apartment for their Munich holiday.

The difference from a classic hotel room: every apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen, plenty of storage for longer stays and a proper living area rather than just a bed. The difference from a privately let holiday apartment: continuous availability, professional housekeeping and verified quality standards in each of the 54 apartments – no matter which one you book. If you are specifically looking for a serviced apartment for business travel, our page on serviced apartments in Munich has further information on facilities and terms for longer stays.

Boarding house instead of private rental

A professional boarding house instead of a private holiday apartment in Munich

Renting a holiday apartment in Munich from a private owner sounds straightforward at first – but in practice it often means a single contact person, uncertain availability if problems arise during your stay, and no consistent quality standards between different flats. With a private holiday rental in Munich, your experience depends heavily on the individual landlord.

Our house at Ländstraße 6 works differently: with 54 apartments under professional management, the same standards of cleanliness, furnishing and availability apply to every apartment. Technical issues, questions about your arrival or last-minute change requests are handled centrally and promptly – an advantage that a single privately let holiday apartment in Munich can rarely offer in this way.

An apartment instead of a hotel room

Your own kitchen, your own routine

In your own holiday apartment in Munich you set the pace of your day: coffee in your own kitchen, laundry in the machine in the building, arrival even late at night.

The apartments have plenty of storage and their own living area. That pays off if you are in Munich for work for a longer period or travelling with children. In the city centre you can get around on foot: Maximilianstraße is five minutes away, the Englischer Garten about twenty.

Practical and secure

Luggage lockers

Your train does not leave until the evening, but you have to vacate the apartment before then? Simply lock your luggage away in the building and make the most of your last day in the city. The same works if you arrive before check-in.

The lockers are right inside the building, so you save yourself a detour to the station just to get rid of your suitcases.

Prices

Prices for your holiday apartment in Munich – transparent and fair

When looking for a cheap holiday apartment in Munich, it pays to look closely at what is included in the price. Rather than relying on the lowest possible headline price with hidden extras, we price transparently: final cleaning, Wi-Fi and professional management are a fixed part of the terms, not optional extras. In a direct comparison, that often makes our apartments fairer value than supposedly cheap holiday apartments in Munich that end up adding extra fees.

The exact rate depends on apartment size, length of stay and season. As our guests stay around 2.5 days on average, our prices are designed for short city breaks as well as longer business stays – with tiered rates for bookings of several weeks.
